The rain has been terrible here recently and so I’ve been catching up on my reading. One book I have just finished is ’Ransom My Heart’ by Meg Cabot.  Set in the 1200s, it is about a young woman named Finnula setting out to capture a man to hold for ransom as she needs money for, well, I won’t ruin it. The man is a rugged Hugh Jackman type character named Hugo Fitzstephen who, of course, falls for the heroine.
It’s an enjoyable book with equal amounts of comedy, romance and mystery, but I have to admit I prefer Cabot’s more modern stories like ‘The Boy Next Door’.
However, if in between a good, gritty thriller, you need an escape to an easier topic, this book is the one for you.

Rating: 6/10
